Corolla is where the Outer Banks goes big — the median rental here is six bedrooms, and multi-family groups treat it as the default. With 2,618 rental properties it's the largest vacation inventory on the northern beaches, most of it built in planned oceanside communities off Route 12. It's roughly 28 miles from Nags Head, which means you commit: you're not day-tripping to the central beaches on a whim.
